Emotions or emotional pain may cause a conflict of responses to situations that affect you internally or externally. In addition, it can affect your communication, behaviour, learning and motivation. As a result, you might feel sad and become demotivated. You might also withdraw from social circles which affects you from thinking positively. Above all, it brings internal conflicts of unpleasant feelings. Unhelpful negative thoughts can cause you to feel powerless or hopeless often leading you to draw away or avoid people that may result in confusion.

Certainly, emotions can be problematic if it begins to affect you over time or prevent you from resolving conflicts. For example, in your relationship, you may experience anger, guilt, sadness, anxiety, depression, stress or even frustration. This may become part of your daily living which can affect your behaviour, concentration, and skills. In extreme cases, emotions can affect your physical health and emotional wellbeing.

As a psychotherapist, I have seen cases where feelings of emotional pain have led to physical symptoms. Such as eating disorders, diarrhoea, stomach upsets and emotional symptoms of headaches, muscle pain, nausea, and others. Causing your physical pain to worsen and spread to various parts of your body.  Although these symptoms are different, one cannot help thinking that there are interconnected.
